During the late 14th century, under the patronage of the conqueror Timur, Persian ceramicists from modern-day Iran, used to be taken to Samarkand, Uzbekistan, where they developed their intricately stunning style of tile mosaic art, wherein to keep the vibrant blues, whites & yellows separate during the firing process, iridescent hues used to be applied to separate pieces of tiles, baked in a kiln, and would later be assembled like pieces of a puzzle, into a mesmerising pattern. Floral & geometric motifs became the mainstay of this form of tiled mosaic art. The brilliant craftsmanship of these Persian artisans resulted in the deftly crafted blue & white Timurid architecture across Central Asia (including modern-day Uzbekistan) and Iran.
